Humans + AI

The most interesting question may not be:

“Will AI replace people?”

A more useful question is:

“What can a person accomplish when AI handles some of the work?”

A mechanic still understands machines.

A business owner still understands customers.

A teacher still understands students.

A creator still has ideas.

A craftsman still has experience.

AI can help those people research faster, organize better, communicate more clearly, and solve unfamiliar problems.

The combination of human experience and artificial intelligence can be far more powerful than either one working alone.

AI Can Help — But It Can Also Be Wrong

This is one of the most important things to understand about artificial intelligence.

AI can sound extremely confident even when its answer is incomplete, outdated, misunderstood, or simply incorrect.

That means good AI use requires judgment.

Before relying on important information:

  • Verify significant facts.

  • Check original sources.

  • Compare multiple sources when necessary.

  • Use official documentation for technical specifications.

  • Consult qualified professionals for medical, legal, tax, or financial matters.

  • Never assume confidence means accuracy.

AI is powerful.

It is not infallible.

Knowing that makes it far more useful.

Don't Be Afraid to Experiment

A Practical Approach to New Technology

You’ll find plenty of excitement around AI and new technology.

You’ll also find plenty of fear.

I prefer something in between.

Learn what it can do.

Understand what it can’t do.

Question extraordinary claims.

Experiment with useful tools.

Protect your privacy.

Verify important information.

And use technology where it genuinely improves your life or business.

You don’t have to adopt every new tool.

You simply need to recognize the ones worth using.
